Marsha McClure - Executive Director
I grew up in Canton, North Carolina, and attended Mars Hill College, where I obtained a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. I have worked at Aston Park Health Care Center since July 1980, starting as the Business Manager and advancing to Executive Director in 1992 after obtaining my Nursing Home Administrator’s license. I received my certification as a licensed nursing home administrator through the American College of Health Care Administrators in 1996. My hobbies include spending time with my family, traveling, hiking, and engaging in church activities. I reside in Buncombe County with my husband, and my dog Ryder. It is a privilege to have a career that allows me to fulfill my passion for caring for the elderly. Interacting with and getting to know our residents is the most rewarding part of my job.
Bryan Adams - Director of Therapy
I manage the Therapy Department, and I am a Physical Therapist Assistant here at Aston Park. Originally from upstate South Carolina, I completed my associate's degree in Greenville, SC and moved to the mountains of Western North Carolina. For the last 20 plus years, I have called the Hendersonville area home. During my days away from work, I spend a large amount of my time supporting my teenage daughters in their various sporting activities or enjoying working in the yard. One of my favorite parts of the job here at Aston Park is the daily interaction with the residents. They've become just like family members to me so, to form relationships with each of them and to help them maintain their quality of life is my ultimate goal!
April Slaten - Director of Social Services
I relocated to the Asheville area from Texas in 2021. I received my Bachelor of Social Work from Texas Tech University (Go Red Raiders!) and my Masters of Social Work from the University of Texas at Arlington (Go Mavericks!). I genuinely enjoy being a resource for our residents and families as they navigate some of life’s most challenging decisions. When not at work, I love learning new things, spending time with my family, and curling up with a cup of coffee and a good book.
Derek Schmid - Director of Maintenance/EVS Director
I am originally from Rockford, IL, but I was raised in Green Bay, WI (Go, Pack, Go!). I also attended DeVry University. My favorite part of my job is working with our residents and getting to hear their many stories. During my free time, I enjoy being around my family, working out, and hiking.
Carey Phillips - Director of Life Enrichment
I grew up in Spartanburg, SC, where I first discovered my passion for working with the senior population through health and fitness as a personal trainer. I've served as a Wellness Coordinator for retirement centers in the Upstate and Asheville area since 2018. I graduated with a Master's in Aging from Arizona State University in 2023, where I learned how to implement the 7 dimensions of wellness into senior programming. It is my goal to apply the 7 dimensions of wellness into the programs that we conduct here at Aston Park so that residents receive a well-balanced experience during their time with us. When I'm not at work, I enjoy spending time with my two cats, painting, and playing guitar in my band.
Elleonora Pastrana - Director of MDS/Care Plans
I grew up in the Philippines but found a home in Western North Carolina in 1998. I have a BSN from the University of East Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Medical Center and RAC-CT and RAC-CTA certifications from AAPACN ( American Association of Post-Acute Care Nurses). I have been an RN for over 30 years, 25 of which have been in skilled nursing facilities. In my spare time, I enjoy reading and traveling to new places. My favorite part of the job is putting all the pieces together of a case and seeing how it drives resident care and positives outcomes.
Janice Ratcliff - Director of the Business Office
I have lived in Asheville and Mars Hill most of my life though I was born on an army base in Georgia. I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting. My favorite part of my job is interacting with residents and helping families. When not at work, I love to sing, travel, and work in my flower gardens.
